The Functions of Rosehip Oil in Skin Care

Table of Contents

Rosehip oil has powerful moisturizing and nourishing properties that can make a dramatic difference to the health of your skin. Find out how this natural oil can provide deep hydration, improve skin elasticity, and reduce signs of aging.

What is Rosehip Oil?

Rosehip oil is a natural oil extracted from the seeds of wild rose bushes. It's a nutrient-dense oil that is rich in essential vitamins, fatty acids, and antioxidants. There are different varieties of Rosehip oil. The most common is Rosa Canina, extracted from the seed of the common dog rose. We use the rarer, Rosa Moschata oil derived from hips of the musk rose gathered in the Andes Mountains. This oil is abundant in tretinoin, a natural form of retinol widely used in skincare products, and can be used to treat a variety of skin conditions. Tretinoin helps with cell turnover, collagen production, even tone, and wrinkles when applied topically. .

How Does Rosehip Oil Benefit Your Skin?

Rosehip oil has a variety of benefits for the skin, including hydrating the skin, reducing wrinkles and signs of aging, improving skin elasticity, protecting against sun damage, promoting wound healing and regeneration of tissue, and even fading scars. It is also suitable for all skin types and helps to restore balance to dry, oily or combination skin. Additionally, its anti-inflammatory properties make it excellent for healing acne as well as rosacea. These qualities make Rosa Moschata oil a key ingredient in our Youth Boost Facial Oil.

How Should You Use It?

Since rosehip oil is so rich and nourishing, it's best to use it sparingly. Apply a few drops of pure oil directly to the skin. Alternatively, you can mix a few drops into your regular moisturizer or foundation for added benefits. Use rosehip oil in either the morning or evening after cleansing your face and applying any other skin care products. For best results, we recommend using it daily for at least four weeks before you start to see improvements in skin tone, texture, elasticity and signs of aging or scars.

Is It Safe For All Skin Types?

Rosehip oil is generally considered safe for all skin types, including oily, combination and sensitive skin. However, since the oil is naturally very potent, it’s best to patch test before using it regularly. Apply a few drops of rosehip oil to your inner wrist or elbow and wait 24 hours. If you don’t experience any redness or itching, you should be good to go!

What To Know Before Using Rosehip Oil.

Before using rosehip oil, it’s important to make sure you understand what you’re getting into. It’s recommended to use it in small amounts – just add a few drops of the oil to your regular moisturizer prior to applying it on your skin. It may take some time for your skin to adjust so don’t forget to be patient! Additionally, be sure to store the oil in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight. This will help keep its beneficial compounds intact.
