Essential oil of Lavender | Organic
This organic essential oil of Lavender is obtained by steam distillation of the stalks and flowering tops of the plant. It smells flowery, fresh, clear and softly sweet.
Lavender is packed full of antiseptic, anti-fungal, antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, making it one of the most versatile essential oils. It’s scent is known to have a calming and soothing effect and it is most often used to relieve stress, encourage relaxation and promote sleep. Apply a few drops to a tissue and place under your pillow for a good nights sleep.
The easiest and safest way to use essential oil of lavender in the home is to diffuse it in an oil burner or diffuser. We have included some suggestions of essential oils blends for diffusers at the bottom of this page.
Essential Oil of Lavender Benefits:
Lavender essential oil contains linalool, linalyl acetate, linalyl formate, camphor, geraniol, and nerol. These compounds work together to provide relief from pain, reduce inflammation, and promote relaxation.
Topical use of Lavender Essential Oil:
To use lavender essential oil on the skin, it must first be diluted in a carrier oil such as jojoba or grapeseed oil. Essential oils are very potent and care must be taken during dilution. I would not recommend home use of essential oils on the skin unless you have some training in aromatherapy. Instead buy pre-blended massage oils (these have undergone safety assessment) or better still visit you local aromatherapist for a relaxing massage.
Lavender Essential Oil Side Effects
Lavender essential oil side effects are rare and usually caused by home use on the skin. Some people experience headaches, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and skin irritation when using lavender essential oil that hasn't been correctly diluted.
